Required. The full URL of the page. Must include the protocol (https://).

Optional. When the page was last modified. Use W3C datetime format.

<changefreq>
Optional. How often the page changes. Google largely ignores this.

Optional. Priority relative to other pages (0.0-1.0). Google largely ignores this too.

Sitemap best practices
Only include canonical URLs
Don't include duplicate pages, redirects, or pages blocked by robots.txt. Only indexable URLs.
Keep it under 50MB / 50,000 URLs
For larger sites, split into multiple sitemaps and use a sitemap index file.
Reference in robots.txt
Add Sitemap: https://example.com/sitemap.xml to your robots.txt.
Submit to Search Console
After uploading, submit your sitemap in Google Search Console for faster indexing.
